Eden Prairie, MN (September 26, 2016) – Specialty’s Café and Bakery, Google and WAND Corporation are pleased to announce their new digital menu boards strategy. Specialty’s, a regional customer favorite on the West Coast, is installing WAND digital menus with Google Chromebit media players at its restaurants, starting with its newest location that recently opened in Santa Clara, California.

“At Specialty’s we focus not only on creating great food using traditional cooking methods, but we make it a goal to incorporate technology wherever possible to enhance the customer experience,” says Leslie Wu, VP of Marketing at Specialty’s. “As we looked to the future and what we want to do with in-store digital interactive content, working with innovators like WAND and Google to create a new in-store experience was an easy decision.”

Specialty’s was one of the first restaurant chains to use digital menus to display its menu which features an array of made-from-scratch baked goods and sandwiches. For its next evolution of digital displays Specialty’s wanted to change its menu management structure, upgrade its static content to dynamic content and explore new ways to use interactive  digital signage content to make the guest experience even more enjoyable.

“When we looked at how we wanted to structure our menu across multiple stores, we realized we needed a way to allow our digital menu’s to show regional pricing and product availability,” Wu says, “WAND was the only company with the software that allowed us to do this in order to manage our operation and yet does not adds burden to our Marketing and IT teams.”

In addition to WAND’s software, Specialty’s was drawn to the advantages provided by Google Chromebit, the world’s smallest micro-desktop media player, to display its menus. Integrating closely with WAND’s hardware and software, the Chromebit allows for better picture quality and display of HTML graphics including rich-media and animations.

“The way Google and WAND work together was a big selling point to us,” says Wu. “Our three teams met together for a session at the Googleplex this summer to talk through strategy and the future of how restaurant technology will shape the customer experience. It’s been exciting to explore what’s ahead.”
