WAND’s digital menu board solution is attached to your local computer network, and uses your location’s connection to the internet to communicate with WAND’s Total Restaurant Management (TRM) platform. For that communication to happen and you to realize the full benefits of WAND’s solution, a few key things need to happen.
WAND Digital is a cloud-based network application. While it will continue to display the latest menu board information without Internet access, it requires proper network and Internet connectivity to download scheduled content updates, software updates, and provide device health information back to WAND.
• Configure the internal network to segregate digital menu boards from the cardholder data environment (CDE).
• WAND recommends the use of wired Ethernet to the media players. Wireless is built in and supported for the Chrome-based media players, but WAND recommends wired for increased reliability and security.
• Use DHCP to assign IP addresses to digital menu boards. Note that the default configuration of a WAND media player is to lease an IP address from the local DHCP pool. If necessary, WAND can accommodate static IP addresses, however this can complicate the replacement and troubleshooting process.
• Allocate appropriate bandwidth for WAND’s digital menu board solution to communicate with WAND’s TRM platform. We recommend a minimum of 1 Mbps for an optimal experience, however, the WAND Digital application will download the content over slower speeds and cache the content locally on the media player.
NETWORK CONFIGURATION REQUIREMENTS
WAND Digital media players will need to be able to reach the TRM servers along with a few other troubleshooting and support services. The following outbound rules must be enabled:

• Outbound 80, 443 (*.logmein.com),
• Outbound 28888 (*.wandcorp.com) if using WAND is being used as a remote access proxy

• DNS – Port 53 (TCP & UDP)
• NTP – Port 123 (UDP)
• HTTPS/SSL – Port 443 (TCP)

• PING (ICMP) – (Ability to ping outbound google domains)
