WAND Biometrics
Protect your bottom line with the unique safeguards of encrypted WAND Biometrics. WAND Biometric Readers (powered by Digital Persona) authenticate employee activity for clocking in and out, as well as Point Of Sale use. These units lower the bottom line for food costs, inventory shrink—including employee theft—help eliminate “buddy punching” and discourage tardy attendance.
WAND Corporations Fingerprint Reader
How It Works
Biometric security for the WAND Biometrics is based on the image of a specific fingerprint. An image is taken and a mathematical representation (rather than the actual fingerprint) is saved. The same pattern is compared for a match every time an employee clocks in. When the match is found, the employee is recognized and is clocked in/out. This is a more secure method that preserves user privacy compared to taking a full-on reading of the fingerprint.
WAND Corporation’s Fingerprint Reader itself connects via USB port to your NCR RealPOS 70 XRT, Panasonic JS-950 Stingray, or other, WAND Corporation-provided Point Of Sale terminal. Employees are able to clock in and clock out, as well as log in to the POS to cashier, and manager overrides are authorized in the same fashion. The result is a swipe-card-free system that doesn’t require passwords, increasing efficiency by improving transaction time, reducing employee theft, and ensuring that the owner/authorizer of every transaction is accurately identified.
Benefits
Biometric security is more efficient and significantly more fool-proof than previous authentication methods like passwords, which can be forgotten or compromised by being shared with or covertly acquired by other employees. Manager cards, too, are less efficient, as they can be lost, acquired by unauthorized employees, or just plain forgotten at home. Biometrics rely on one’s fingerprints, which we take everywhere we go. There’s nothing to forget and nothing to lose.
Security
To use biometric technology is to avail oneself to the ultimate natural credential authentication solution, and can realize your business between 2.2 and 5 percent in savings. More intimate than a signature, a biometric fingerprint tracks a persons movement to the second when it comes to authorizing transactions. Discounts given without a managers approval are no longer an option. Buddy-punching which is the practice of punching a fellow employees timecard in or out, cant be done without the absent employees presenceafter all, the hand and the employee it is attached to are supposed to be a package deal!
Savings & Convenience
The Gartner Group has done research showing that 30-40 percent of help desk calls are related to users forgetting their passwords: the time spent to resolve this costs $20-$45 each time, on average. Biometric technology wipes out having to remember, and skips the phone calls made and time lost working to reset user access.A topical study by the American Payroll Association found that 4.5 hours a week were stolen by employees every week. Being an “average” amount, 50 percent of employees are stealing even more time than this. Annually, this adds up to a month-and-a-half-long paid vacation for every hourly employee on your labor force. Clearly, WAND Biometrics save time and money, restore peace of mind: improving the bottom line is at your fingertips.
